Nurse Anesthesia Education program receives maximum accreditation status

Jun 15, 2010

On June 11, 2010, the directors of the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs (COA) informed the KU Nurse Anesthesia Education program that they had achieved maximum accreditation status.  Pursuant to the COA's decision, the Nurse Anesthesia Education program has been granted full accreditation through Spring 2020.

Very few programs receive a status of maximum accreditation.  Unlike most programs seeking accreditation, The KU Nurse Anesthesia Education program was not required to submit a progress report.  Additionally, very few programs are accredited for the full period of ten years.  The COA, in awarding this designation, noted the KU program's commitment to meeting the highest standards for continued accreditation.

Along with news of accreditation, the COA also informed the department that their graduates had achieved a first-time pass rate of 95 percent for 2009 - far exceeding the mandatory threshold of 72 percent.
